About this event

Did you know that law enforcement officials from more than 250 police departments across the United States, including virtually every major police department in the country, have traveled to Israel over the past several years to receive training in “counter-terrorism” techniques by Israeli police, military, and intelligence units? And that their travel and training expenses are paid for by private entities?

Sponsored by the Racial Justice Coalition of San Diego, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee--San Diego Chapter, and the Palestine-Israel Justice Team of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego, this panel discussion features speakers who will examine the widespread use of US-Israeli law enforcement training exchanges and what that may mean for the American public. The speakers will address such topics as who organizes and funds the training and why, what is being taught to US police, the documented human rights abuses of the Israeli security units that provide the training, the potential consequences to Americans back home (particularly communities of color), and what some communities in the US are doing to try to end this alarming practice.

Speakers will be Yusef Miller and Darwin Fishman, Ph.D, of the Racial Justice Coalition of San Diego; Doris Bittar and George Khoury of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee-San Diego Chapter; Edith Garwood of Amnesty International USA; and Susan Kerin of Peace Action Montgomery, Montgomery County, Maryland.

We’ll send Zoom info to all registrants prior to the event.
